This is my tumblr. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
I pretend like this is a relevent tumblr for relevent things, but it's not, it's really just a cleverly disguised Wonder Woman appreciation blog.

I have googled every combination of “Margo Maine” “Body Wars” “rape statistics” “study accuracy” “data collection” etc. and can find no results that corroborate these numbers or give any information about this infographic.
Anyone? Anyone better at google than me?
How many ‘college men’ were in the study? What percentage of colleges were polled? Was there a control group? How was the data collected? Was the study done in America or the UK? India? China? What year? Who would walk into a focus group and say “I would like to rape people”? There has to be a PDF of the experiment data around here somewhere. You can’t publish without showing your research, right? 83.5 is incredibly close to 100%. It’s 8 out of 10. Do you really believe that 8 out of 10 men think “Some women look like they are asking to be raped”?
Of course you do. You read an ifographic on Tumblr so it must be true.
If we just want to throw random numbers around Fox News is always hiring. High turnover rate at that place. Plenty of openings for disseminators of disinfo.
Be better than the bad guys, please. If you saw a poster that said “83.5% of college women think Obama is a Muslim” you’d want to see where that number came from, wouldn’t you? Because that seems unlikely?
Or not. Whatever. It’s the internet. You’re going to keep passing it around anyhow.
Simply posting numbers on the Internet doesn’t make it true. Back it up with data and I’ll buy it.
